Ghillie Callum Club

All members of the Ghillie Callum Club are also members of the New Zealand Academy of Highland and National Dancing.

 

Membership to the club includes:

 

• Regular meetings to: 

  • Discuss highland dancing technical and adjudicating issues or concerns

  • Arrange dancers for concerts and other events

 

• Opportunities to arrange and participate in:

  • Teaching and Judging upskilling programmes

  • Organising and hosting competitions 

  • The New Zealand Academy of Highland and National Dancing conference

   when hosted in Dunedin

 

The Ghillie Callum Club is responsible for arranging local Highland Dancing examinations in May and September each year.  This includes providing local teachers and their pupils with the opportunity for two music practices before sitting the actual exam.  

 

The club also provides consultation services to the Otago branch of the Piping and Dancing Association of New Zealand.  As a corporate member of this organisation, the Club is also able to run competitions.
